Amazingly descriptive from the start, allow the reader to almost feel the disorientation and pain Darby experiences when she wakes or the dankness of her cell. Spencer captures a mother’s panic equally well.
Spencer does an excellent job of recording the tawdriness and terror of human trafficking. How easily it can happen to anyone and how hard it is to combat is amazingly sad. All it takes is one trusted person to betray for greed.
Subject aside Spencer does a tremendous job of following logical plot throwing in several twists and some intrigue besides. Be it at the police station, the cell, or the college campus, Spencer demonstrates a grand ability to place the reader into that locale. Capturing the atmosphere and characters extremely well.
